Many People know Vikita through a variety of endeavors she is involved with. Some would say she is a business woman, a community leader or a giving advocate to the charities she supports. They are right, Vikita is all of these. She is truly a multifaceted woman who exudes professionalism, dedication and grace in all she does. As for me, I first knew her as a friend, a dedicated warrior mother to her daughter and son that she refers to as her “blessings”. I say “warrior” because since her son was an infant she has fought for him to stay healthy and alive. I believe if it was not for her sheer determination and complete dedication to him, he would not be with us today. Carey beat the odds the doctors gave him as a baby because God gave him Vikita as a mother. Her daughter was shown through example that anything is possible with hard work and dedication. It’s no surprise that Kaila has grown to be the articulate, giving young business woman she is today. After all, she had Vikita to model growing up! Even though Vikita has accomplished many things and has received many accolades for all she has done, she is a humble woman who always gives the glory to God. She will tell you first and foremost she is a servant of the Lord. This for me is her most defining characteristic. I’m humbled and honored to call her my friend and sister in Christ.

She’s a true professional with a real life testimony of the greatness you can achieve, when you let God direct your life! Vikita enriches the lives of her community and individuals. She always has a welcome smile, an impactful word and is amazingly professionalism. I have never known anyone with more personal pains, adversities and trials. Her life experiences have made her who she is…a godly woman with a real view of life filled with eloquence and a purpose to help generations to come. Vikita is a woman after God’s own heart. She has the ability to challenge and inspire, to share the truth though education and training. Vikita is living proof that to accomplish your life dreams, you have to go though the adversities of life. She is who she is, because of her willingness to share the love of God, in her journey of Brokenness to Breakthrough! When you think of prominent woman throughout history. Many names come to mind. Pioneers in history, hard working and very special to all they touch. Today we have many women to look to such as a Maya Angelou, Oprah Winfrey and Condolezza Rice to name a few. The writer of this book to me falls into such a category. he is beautiful inside and out, witty, kind, considerate, giving of her time and a strong woman. To do all the things these types of women do requires strength. My friend Vikita Poindexter is all of this and then some. She has two children who are the apple of her eye, a work schedule that I tease her and say,” she is the hardest working woman in business”. I try to understand where she fits all the time into a twenty-four hour day. She has a son with special needs that takes allot of her time. To see them together, the love she exudes for her son Carey is contagious. Like her, he too is a very strong young man. What I’m trying to write about this special lady is that, this book will lift your spirits, draw you to her, and help you to become a leader, better parent, business person, spiritual individual, and an all around better person in life. What she has had to endure in life, to get to where she has through the difficulties of life, makes not only for inspirational reading, but if life were to throw you lemons, use them to make lemonade. In other words enjoy what this lady has endured and see how she is able to turn the negative things in her life into a huge positive in her life. Enjoy reading, Kim L. Horn --------------------------------------------------------------- I Love God, HE is soooooo awesome and I thank Him for you my sister, friend and cousin, and I thank you for your obedience to Him and His call for you to share your story. "Brokenness to Breakthrough" as women of God we have all experienced being broken but we haven't all experienced the breakthrough. When we are broken we lack faith, we feel hopeless, there is fear, emptiness, depression and we feel defeated Breakthrough is turning IT ALL over to God and serving Him despite your troubles, despite yourself and your circumstances we all have to PRESS through. In her book, Vikita makes herself transparent and shares her life experiences regardless of what people may think and knowing that judgment could be the result of her sharing. Isaiah 43:2-3 tells us "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you. When you cross rivers, you will not drown. When you walk through fire you will not be burned, nor will the flames hurt you. This is because I, the Lord am your God, the Holy one of Israel, your Savior". Once we understand this, we have Broken through. Vikita has Broken through and with her book wants to help others Break through. Vikita is honest and up front and wants to help women of all ages face their past, push through, seek God and break the cycle that continues to break women of all races, religions and backgrounds. We don't choose hurt, hurt chooses us. We have to pass through the water, cross over the river and walk through the fire. When we do that we are on our way to Breaking Through. I have known Vikita all of her life she is my cousin, that is the blood relationship, but she is also my Sister and Friend, that is the Spiritual relationship. I have seen her during her broken era and I have witnessed her pass through the water, cross the rivers of life and she didn't drown. I have seen her walk through the fire; the death of her mother, being a single parent of two children and dealing with all the rest of life's challenges she is victorious and she still serves our Lord and Savior as a true woman of God. Again thank you Vikita for your obedience to Gods calling on your life being transparent, walking through the fire and sharing your story with the world so we can go from Brokenness to Breakthrough. God Bless you and I love you my Cousin, Sister and most of all my Friend. Marnita Vaughn
