Better Breather Clubs

Description: Better Breathers Clubs offer the opportunity to learn ways to better cope with COPD and other lung diseases, while getting the support of others who share in your struggles. Support groups give you the tools you need to live the best quality of life you can.


Investment
: $5,000 annually, per Club

(Six Clubs in San Diego, meets one time per month)

 

SCAMP Camp

Description:
For more than 35 years, the American Lung Association has hosted a summer camp so that asthmatic kids can enjoy a traditional summer pastime without the fear of having a life-threatening asthma attack while far away from emergency medical care. The goal of the camp is to help kids have fun in a safe setting while learning to better manage their asthma


Investment:
$1,000 per child, $10,000 for a cabin of 10 children, $50,000 full program cost

 

HelpLine


Description
: The ALA Helpline is staffed by Registered Nurses and Respiratory Therapists with extensive experience in the healthcare industry. Areas of expertise include: Education, Smoking Cessation, Respiratory Therapy, Lung Disease, Nursing, Physician Referral, Respiratory Home Care, Neonatal, Pediatric, Medication Counseling, and Adult Intensive Care.


Investment:$1,000 per month

 

Open Air Ways for Schools


Description
: The American Lung Association's Open Airways For Schools program educates and empowers children through a fun and interactive approach to asthma self-management.  It teaches children with asthma ages 8-11 how to detect the warning signs of asthma, avoid their triggers and make decisions about their health


Investment: $3,000 per school site

 

Air Quality Flag Program


Description
: Red, green, orange or yellow, the FLAG program is a school-based educational program that lets everyone know the day's air quality. Participating schools are provided a set of colored flags they can fly everyday, with each colored flag representing a different level of air pollution.


Investment
: $1,000 per school site.
